Travelling with film equipment and an ATA Carnet

Camera, lighting, sound, props and event kit often travel on tight schedules. A carnet run fails when the customs point is hidden, closed, or on the wrong side of security.

Before you leave for the airport

• Search both the departure and destination airport codes.
• Check the terminal and whether customs is before or after security.
• Save phone numbers for customs, Border Force or the red point phone.
• Leave time for someone to come to the phone, desk or booth.

When you find the point

Add the exact terminal, landmark, phone number, what3words, directions and a photo. That turns a stressful one-off discovery into a useful note for the next crew.
